The next Electronics Recycling event will be Saturday, Nov. 14 at the Newport Lowes. From 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.  No TVs or appliances this time, only computer electronics accepted at this event.

  1. How do we dispose of the new mercury bulbs? Are they accepted at the electronic waste recycling event in Nov.? Thanks for any info you can give.

    • CFL bulbs are disposed of in the same manner as fluorescent tubes. There are collection bins at most home improvement centers like Lowe’s and Home Depot. If it’s an older style CFL (doesn’t have a plastic “bulb” around the coiled tubing) seal the bulb in a plastic bag so that, should it be broken, the mercury will be contained. Then place it in a collection bin for recovery of the mercury.

      LED bulbs contain no mercury and need no special disposal considerations.
